The Fiji Meat Industry Board (‘FMIB’) is a state-owned and regulated entity that plays a critical role in Fiji’s meat industry. It operates Abattoirs in Nakasi and Vuda on the Island of Viti Levu. FMIB seeks to recruit a dynamic and results- driven leader for the position of Chief Executive Officer (‘CEO’) to be based at its Head Office in Davuilevu, Nakasi with out-of-station travel as and when required.

The CEO will be responsible for developing high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short- term and long-term objectives. He or she will lead and motivate a high performing team, overseeing all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with overall strategy, mission and vision of the Government. The CEO reports to the Chair of the Board of Directors of Fiji Meat Industry Board.

Key Requirements:

• Spearheading strategic direction and business plans of FMIB to ensure the delivery of plans. against specific targets and timeframes.
• Ensuring consistent growth and profitability of FMIB.
• Review financial and non-financial reports to devise solutions or improvements.
• Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth. Promoting FMIB as a strategic business partner to investors.
• Ensuring that the Board is well informed of FMIB’s financial and operational performance.
• Effectively handling public relations matters and developing beneficial business relationships with external stakeholders to ensure that FMIB is recognized as a credible and valued organization.
• Effectively leading and motivating staff at FMIB through effective human resources management practices.
• Ensuring compliance with the Meat Act 237, 1970, the Public Enterprise Act No. 6 of 2019 and other relevant acts, regulations, legal demands and ethical standards.
• Ensuring FMIB plays a major role in the future development of the Meat Industry; and
• Maintaining a deep knowledge of the markets and industry that FMIB operates in.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as CEO or in other equivalent senior managerial positions.
• Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing vision.
• Strong understanding of public corporate finance and performance management principles.
• Familiarity with diverse business functions such as marketing, Public Relations, Finance, Good Governance etc. In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices.
• An entrepreneurial mindset with outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
• Analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
• Minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree in business administration or relevant field.
• Experience in the meat industry will be an added advantage
• Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a contractual position with an
  initial three-year period subject to renewal on performance.
